Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation-Cedarview Reservoir Pipeline

The Ute Indian Tribe (Tribe) is accepting proposals for the design and construction of a pipeline and diversion structures located on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. The Tribe desires to construct a 1.83-mile pipeline along the current route of the Cedarview Canal that supplies water to the Cedarview Reservoir located at lat:40.5583, Long:-110.1333.
NRCE will receive proposals via email until 3:00 pm MST Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Proposals submitted after that time will not be considered. The Tribe and NRCE reserve the right to disqualify any proposal deemed incomplete. Proposals will become the property of the Tribe and NRCE and will be kept confidential. Proposals should be submitted by email to rmcbride@nrce.com. The email subject should be: CEDARVIEW RESERVOIR PIPELINE INSTALLATION.
A mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held at 10:00 am on May 25, 2022. The meeting will be held at the Tribal Fish and Game Department. The pre-proposal meeting will include a visit to the site.
Questions regarding the proposed work may be submitted by email to the project manager. Questions must be received no later than 5:00 pm MST Thursday, June 16, 2022. Answers to timely submitted questions will be provided within 48 hours from the time they are received and sent to a proposer mailing list. To be included on this mailing list, contact the project manager. Proposal evaluation will begin immediately following the proposal submission deadline. Evaluation factors will include technical capability, understanding of project requirements, ability to perform the project requirements, past performance, and cost. NRCE anticipates notification of the successful proposal award by July 20, 2022. The Tribe and NRCE reserve the right to reject any and all proposals for any reason deemed to be within the Tribe’s or NRCE’s interest. NRCE raises over $2,200 in annual staff fundraiser for local non-profit

For our annual holiday fundraiser this year, NRCE staff chose to raise funds for local non-profit, Crossroads Safehouse. The firm hosted a Penny Wars Challenge, and timed the donation with Colorado Gives a Day, which allowed every dollar raised to be matched by the Crossroads Safehouse Board of Directions.  NRCE staff raised over $1,100 during this 2 week challenge, and after the donation match from the Board, was able to donate over $2,200 to the Safehouse!

NRCE raises over $1,000 for local nonprofit restaurant

Every holiday season, NRCE staff comes together to give back to our community. This year we hosted a Penny Wars Challenge, with all proceeds to benefit local non-profit restaurant, FoCo Cafe. NRCE staff raised over $500 during this 2 week challenge, and after a donation match from the company, was able to donate over $1,000 to the Cafe! Staff loved the challenge so much that we’re already brainstorming ideas for next year.

NRCE President’s book on food security in the local news

NRCE’s President, Dr. Woldezion Mesghinna, published a book in 2016 titled How Sub-Saharan Africa Can Achieve Food Security. Colorado State University interviewed Dr. Mesghinna about his book, and shared it via the following outlets in our local community. According to the Producer at CSU’s radio station, it was the most listened to interview she’s ever produced.

NRCE senior staff to participate in the USCID Irrigation Water Management Conference

Three of NRCE’s senior technical staff will be attending the USCID Irrigation Water Management Conference in Fort Collins, Colorado in October. This conference will provide a forum for water district staff, irrigation and drainage specialists, consultants, equipment suppliers and academics to share innovative solutions and learn from each other’s experiences.

Dr. Tom Ley, NRCE Senior Supervising Engineer, is on the Planning Committee for the conference, helped with organizing the Colorado ET Workshop, and will moderate one of the technical sessions.

 

NRCE to panel at the USAID Small Business Conference in South Africa

NRCE has been selected as one of the small businesses to attend, and participate on a panel, at the USAID Africa Missions Small Business Conference which will be held on November 1-2, 2016 in South Africa. The conference is the first international outreach event of it’s kind, and offers U.S. small businesses extended knowledge of USAID programming priorities and procurement needs for the Africa Missions. USAID will send representatives from approximately 20 Missions in Sub-Saharan Africa to the conference. The conference will include panel discussions, networking opportunities, and various exhibit booths of USAID Africa Missions, large business prime contractors, and other federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of State, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

NRCE staff travels to Senegal to begin USAID project

NRCE’s Contracts and Grants Manager, CFO, and Business Development Manager have arrived in Senegal to begin the Senegal Projet Assainissement – Changement de Comportement et Eau pour le Senegal (ACCES) Task Order under the Water and Development IDIQ (WADI). This task order is a 5 year, $22 million program designed to achieve improvements in nutrition through investments in water, sanitation, and hygiene in the most malnourished regions of Senegal. They will be meeting with the NRCE in-country staff and partners for the project, participating in meetings, visiting field sites, and initiating the start of a successful 5 years.

NRCE President publishes book on food security in Sub-Saharan Africa

NRCE President, Dr. Woldezion Mesghinna, has published his book titled How Sub-Saharan Africa Can Achieve Food Security and Ascend Its Economy to the Initial Stages of Light Industrialization. In an effort to help SSA countries, the book provides a comprehensive guide to science-engineering-based principles and methods that, if broadly implemented in conjunction with supporting government public policies and programs, could substantially and sustainably increase domestic food production and associated improvements in living standards, poverty reduction, and foster multi-sector economic growth critical to the region’s eventual ascension to industrialization.
