Ute Pumped Storage Project at Flaming Gorge Reservoir
Client: Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, Utah
Project: Ute Pumped Storage Project at Flaming Gorge Reservoir
NRCE assisted the Ute Indian Tribe with conceptual and early-feasibility level analyses of a pumped storage project located at Flaming Gorge Reservoir in northeast Utah. NRCE subsequently developed the preliminary permit application for the Ute Pumped Storage Project, which the Tribe filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on December 4, 2015 under FERC Project No. P-14742. The project is expected to fall under jurisdictional authority of both FERC and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR). FERC is currently awaiting USBRs’ opinion about jurisdictional authority.
